Crapclassics # 3: Lord of the Flies

Lord of the Flies - William Golding

I actually read another version of this book (I'm rather particular about getting the right cover if possible) but it's the one with the face with bugs on it and it completely freaked me out.

This was another book that I attempted to read in High School (I felt that reading Harry Potter for AP was cheating) and failed miserably. I'm not sure I made it past two chapters. It could be the issues that even fans of it list, it could be the symbolism (I'm not always great at catching it), or it could be the writing. I tried to repress this one, so I can't say for sure.

But I have recently had a slight thawing of my feelings in relation to this book. This and another book had always bothered me because I felt as a book and literature lover I HAD to like this book; however, when I joined Goodreads, I discovered that there were other book lovers who, for them, this book just didn't work.
