Wicked Northern Illinois: The Dark Side of the Praire State - ...yeah?
While I enjoy historical face as well as well-written and well-documented books, I also love reading folklore and the stories of areas I've lived it. I've read several books concerning stories and ghost tales set in East Tennessee, an area I know well. Now, I'm trying to branch out and chose this book to learn a bit about the...interesting events the Northern section of Illinois witnessed.
And this is not a bad example of folklore histories. I've certainly read worse. The stories are interesting and while the writing is a bit...dry (and not in a funny sort of way), there are plenty of details and I was never bored. I certainly learned a lot and I plan to read more of this writer's books.
