Pocket Book # 12: Mutiny on the Enterprise - WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO ME?!

Mutiny on the Enterprise - Robert E. Vardeman

*The Gush (Actually the Rant in disguise)*

Ehhh. As you can see, I finished this long ago and am only now getting around to reviewing it. The sad thing is...I WANT TO LIKE THIS BOOK! This is the book everyone should read, particularly now. Except that it sucks.

The idea that the book addresses is that there are times that armed conflict is necessary, and needs to be a last resort. Peace and sanctity of life should always be what we are striving for, but just because we are committed to this, does not mean that the ones we were facing are committed to the same. Sometimes to protect our lives and the lives of those around us, we have to use means that are harsh. Seeing the effects that Lorelei has that cause more harm to the members of the crew then if they carried out their duties really makes you think.

Great idea...

lousy execution.

The characters are bland, particularly Lorelei; Kirk has the character will of a two year old; the plot jumps like a flea; the writing is as bland as the characters; and the idea is nearly twisted to point of misunderstanding. Oh my gosh.

And you wondered why I've not been reading more of these. I praying for another good one. Please, give me something!

*Conclusion*

Skip this. There has to be better ones.
Right?

Note: Can we get off the pj uniforms? Seriously.
