Better Homes and Hauntings - Lots of Fun!

Better Homes and Hauntings - Molly Harper

This was my first try of Molly Harper's books, and I'm definitely coming back for more. I can't wait to see where this might go - this is a series, right? ...Apparently not.

Nina Linden is trying for a fresh start and Geek billionaire Deacon Whitney's offer could be just that. His family's old estate, Crane's Nest, off the Rhode Island coast is being restored and her job is to coax the gardens back to life. While not expecting anything but hard work and a safe place from her stalking and life destroying ex- business partner, she finds friendship with her fellow workers and maybe something more with her boss. There's just one problem though; the house doesn't seem to like them there!

I'm pretty choosy about my paranormal romances but after Murder by Death's review and Yodamom Finds her Force's, not to mention Audible's plug for the audiobook, I had to give it a try. I'm very glad I did because I enjoyed this throughly. The characters were wonderful to meet and you like the ones you're suppose to and dislike the ones you're not. The setting is easily creepy and the history/ghost story is very interesting. There is even a hint of mystery within the story, as the more you learn about the island, the more questions are raised.

There was so much I liked about this book...but there were a few things I could have done without. The...visitor to Jake in his bed was more then I could stand but it was quickly over and I'm trying to forget that part!

The paranormal aspects were well done but for me it all came down to the characters and where the story was taking them both in terms of plotting and emotional/psychological elements as well. Even if this type of book might not be your cup of tea, Harper's book is well worth a look.

Reread 11/4-7/2014

Thanks to Jessica (HDB) -and once again, that's a big thanks! -, I got a chance to reread this and try out the kindle app on my iPhone. I loved this just as much as I did the first time and the chance to highlight all those hilarious segments was amazing. I think I'll be going over to the Dark Side (what LL and I've been calling it) soon and get a Fire. I actually let what you can do with the app and since I use Audible...buying e-books from Kindle makes sense.

Anyway, enjoyed this quite a bit and it also works for my Holiday Bingo!
